PAINTING professionally began in 1991 for The International Art Association at the 'O' Street Gallery in Washington DC; and The DeVorzon Gallery at Pacific Design Center on Melrose Ave in Los Angeles, CA. The paintings were acrylic on large 8' x 5' canvases, with popular themes of repetition as found in consumer-oriented merchandising such as shoe racks, mailboxes and party scenes, seeking out visual rhythm in everyday routine, in which routine itself became also a subject of interest. This portfolio was submitted to Graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1994 and was accepted into the Masters of Fine Arts program.

Upon graduating and returning to Raleigh, a mural was produced and toured in 1997 at the
"Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour" and was featured on WTVD-11 News "3D Murals" with Don Ross. Red Hat, Inc. was the first opportunity to expand into corporate murals; Novo Nordisk, WakeMed, Learning Express followed and this website was launched in June 2003. The site originally offered murals, magnetic tiles, greeting cards and music. The site caught the attention of BBC NY Productions when they called for a muralist for their show on TLCs "Moving Up", and a second pilot project TLCs"Broken Homes" .

Fluorescent and UV paint was introduced into the 'jungle' mural which inspired a series of canvases, from the perspective of being inside a room and having an exterior view within the painting with efx embedded in the canvas or wall. These collaborative pieces with engineer Jim Redbeard (link under construction) toured local venues in downtown Raleigh, described best in this article by Meredith Richbourg NCSUs The Technician

ASSEMBLAGE and early studies of enhanced depth perception using '3D' eyewear, fluorescence, rendered animation and crossover relief as displayed at '"The Third Party" were deemed as gimmicks by members of the faculty at UNCG with the understanding that abstract painting is the only choice for serious painting students. The result was a thesis "Repetition and Its Use In Our Consumerist Space" with works made of matches, money, christmas lights, tv sets, x rays and mannequins (see 'The Art of Assemblage' by William Seitz). A second wave of assemblage occured ten years later with "The Screen", using checks, money, matches, rebar, gold leaf and fractured mirror as an element of reflective cubism:
